Volleyball Nationals 2020 Admission– Gate at Nationals– 2020 will be the first season that NCHVC has had a gate. Admission to the tournament will be collected by The Hyvee Arena.  Watch for more details.

COVID-19 Info: Our goal will be to communicate via email and social media to all registered players, coaches, and families as we lead up to Nationals. We are fully aware that this year will look different and are open to your program’s feedback leading up to Nationals. As it stands there are two issues we will address today.

1) Facility & Mask Policies– Following the initial COVID-19 shutdown, the Hy-vee Arena has re-opened and has been successfully running tournaments since June. Hy-vee has not canceled any events since re-opening.  Here is additional information on the Hy-vee Arena that they provided to us.

“From the beginning of June 2020 to today, we have held 11 events, 8 of them have been on a national level. Please note that there have been over 2600 health department reports throughout Kansas City concerning Covid-19 related issues and we have not been cited in any. We want your organization, students and parents to know that we have taken every precaution to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests… Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.”

Hy-vee’s current policy & mandates are: “adults wear masks indoors at all times if social distancing cannot happen. Kids under the age of 19 do not have to wear masks.”  The HyVee Arena is being very proactive in the protection of athletes though day-to-day procedures as well as tournament specific actions.  Some of these include

– Signage laying out tips to avoid the spread of COVID-19, rules for entering, and directing the flow traffic inside the facility;

– Specific doors labeled entrance and exit only, as well as graphics on the floor to communicate clearly

– Hand Sanitizer stations throughout the facility

– Large seating sections to encourage social distancing

– Regular cleaning and sanitization of restrooms and public areas

– Food Court seating separated to ensure social distancing

Additionally, our Head Ref and Coordinator has assured us that refs will be ready to go and will be following all recommended procedures.  She also said, “Officials will wear masks and either use an electronic whistle or keep it in their mask at all times.”

If these policies change the NCHC will contact registered families, coaches, and teams right away.

2) NCHC Refund Policy– In the event that there is a cancellation, either by a team (by the posted deadline), the NCHC, or the facility, our refund policy remains in place. We do not issue refunds.  However, we do offer full credits for the following year. This is in large part due to the fact that we use the payments made to make non-refundable commitments for facility deposits, awards, programs, etc. If this causes concern or hardship for your program please email rob@flattmail.com to discuss further.

We look forward to being together once again to witness the best homeschool Volleyball teams compete to find out who is the Undisputed National Champion!

Sincerely,
Robert Flatt

NCHC Executive Director

Team USA- NCHC

Sign Up & Registration Link Below info…

Each year NCHC Events combine for well over 300 Team USA sign ups!

Team USA serves many purposes.

1) Whole team is not attending
2) Do not have a team
3) Dual Rostering*

*This usually happens when a player is “playing up” due to their programs make up. In this case this happens when team they are not receiving a lot of playing time on the current team they are on. For these situations we always advise asking your team coach permission before signing up to dual roster.

Team USA is made up of Home School players from around the country. In many situations Team USA allows players to participate in an NCHC Post Season Event that they would not otherwise be able to.  Team USA was birthed in the early 1990’s in San Antonio at the 1st HomeSchool Basketball National Tournament and over the years has been expanded to other events including HomeSchool Volleyball Nationals!

In Team USA you can request to play with your friends or teammates. We have seen many instances were 3-5 players from a team that played together all year and a coach want to play at an NCHC Post Season Event but don’t have enough to field a full team, Team USA is a great opportunity for these situations and others.

For more information or to sign up, go to the following link: Team USA Info & Sign Up

NCHC Policies

NCHC Eligibility Guidelines: Click Here

All Parents, Coaches, & Athletic/Program Directors are required to abide by the posted Eligibility Guidelines, during the NCHC Player, Coaches, & Program registration all individuals are required to read and agree to abide by the NCHC Eligibility Guidelines, if you have not yet read these yet please go to the link above and review. The NCHC considers anyone that sits on the bench to be a coach.

Sportsmanship is always encouraged by all parties. Parents or adults should never correct or confront the opposing team’s players, fans or children.

Under no circumstances should fans and children being shooting at half time.

In addition to these posted eligibility guidelines NCHC Coaches are held to a higher standard: A coach is never to confront opposing fans, students, or players before, during, or after a game. A coach is responsible for holding themselves, other coaches, & their players accountable for their language & actions, especially on the court. A coach is never to confront, yell at, or display threatening body language towards a referee after the game. A coach is responsible to make sure their parents &/or fans behave during their game. Social Media Policy: It is not acceptable for a coach, Athletic Director, Parent, Player, or team account to make negative social media posts about NCHBC players, fans, referees, directors, or tournaments.

NCHC Eligibility In Writing Policy: The NCHC ONLY handles eligibility exemptions or questions in writing, it does NOT handle the questions on the phone. Coaches, Athletic Directors, Parents, & Players if you have questions about an eligibility situation in your program and you have told the player has been granted an exemption ask to see it in writing. We are issuing this clarification statement because the last couple of years we have had numerous situations where coaches have told players that it was approved by Tim or Rob but we had not even heard of the situations. As players, coaches, and parents it is your responsibility to make sure your team meets the eligibility requirements. Again all eligibility issues must be dealt with in writing, no exceptions.

NCHC Cancellation Policy/Notice:
Any team that gives a full 21-day cancelation notice will receive full credit for any payments made; the credit will be good for any NCHC run event for 1 full calendar year. However, any late cancelations will forfeit any payments made, and if they have not yet paid they will receive an invoice. Late cancellations are treated the same as if the team attended the event. We have no desire to make a team pay for an event they didn’t attend, however, this policy is nonnegotiable as we require proper notice for brackets, referee’s, gyms, trophies, etc.

NCHC Late Fee: A $50 late fee will be added to any team fees that are not paid in full, 30 days prior to their events start date.

NCHC Refund Policy: The NCHC does not issue refund checks, we do however issue credits for one full calendar year to any NCHC run event of your program’s choice.

NCHC Must Play Policy: A team that enters into our events agrees to compete in all tournament games bracketed.

This policy specifically is for teams capable of playing but choosing to leave the tournament with bracketed games.

Failure to do so is a $100 penalty, per game, with additional penalties, including, but not limited to, future tournament ban.

NCHC Dual Roster & Coaching Policy: Players & Coaches may play & coach on multiple different age groups within a program. Players are permitted to play on in any age group they qualify for. Players may only play on one team per age group. As always it is the NCHC policy that teams entering our tournaments have enough primary players and a backup coach to compete, our staff will look at all requests to accommodate dual rostering, however, each player must know who their primary team and each team must have enough primary players to begin each game of the tournament. Ultimately each team must be prepared for conflicts that our staff is unable to accommodate.
