Dual Roster & Coaching at Volleyball Nationals

Our goal here is to gather this information so that we can do our best to accommodate program’s request to avoid conflicts. It is essential that all teams with dual rostering players understand the:

Dual Roster Volleyball Player & Coach

  • NCHC Dual Roster & Coaching Policy: Players & Coaches may play & coach on multiple different age groups within a program. Players are permitted to play on in any age group they qualify for. Players may only play on one team per age group. As always it is the NCHC policy that teams entering our tournaments have enough primary players and a backup coach to compete, our staff will look at all requests to accommodate dual rostering, however, each player must know who their primary team and each team must have enough primary players to begin each game of the tournament. Ultimately each team must be prepared for conflicts that our staff is unable to accommodate.
  • Please list all names of the players on your program who are dual rostering. Also if you have a coach doubling up on Head Coaching duties, please make sure to list the age groups they are playing or coaching on. Example: Sarah Kennedy plays 14u & 18u, etc.

18u Division III Info

18u Format & Divisions

All players must age-eligible for their age group on September 1st of the school year.  For Example – on a 16U team all players must be 16 or younger on 9/1 of the school year.

This year at Nationals we will continue with the Varsity Division and Classification play that was introduced at NCHVC 2014.

Division I & II – This is the only option for ALL age groups with the exception of the Varsity age group (18u) which offers a Division III, option.

18u Division III – This division has been one of our hottest divisions, as such it has been part of Nationals Gold Ball Showdown Series Format. This age group was created for young 18u teams that are barely too old for the 16u age group. In order to opt into Division III you must meet one of the following criteria:

1. A team with no more than two players older than 16 as of September 1st of the school year.
2. A volleyball team that has an average age of 16.0 (or less) when combining the ages of their top 7 players as of September 1st of the school year.

18u Division III teams the past couple of seasons have made up Class 4A & 3A at Nationals. These two Gold Ball Classes are part of the Undisputed National Championship Gold Ball Showdown Series. This means that the Gold Ball Champions of these divisions will advance into the Gold Ball Showdown Series Semi-Finals!

  • The NCHVC HomeSchool Volleyball Player Award Nomination Form is below: This is a Coaches Only Form, only the head coach or someone with the expressed consent of the head coach may fill out this form. Once the nominations are collected the next step will be to match Regional Results with guaranteed awards. Example, Regional Champions & Gold Ball Champions are each guaranteed 3 All-Americans, Regional runner-up & Silver Ball Winners 2, all other teams will have only 1 guaranteed participant in Saturday's All-American Game. No team will have more than 5 All-American, even if they win Regional & a Gold Ball.

  • Examples: San Juan Crusaders 16u or TPA Lions 14u & 18u, etc.
  • This is a coaches only form and is only filled out by Head Coaches or by someone who has been assigned this duty by the head coach.
